The RES industry is one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy, and has faced a number of technological, economic, and legal challenges. Currently, there are discussions on the national and European level concerning the organization and security of energy supply. While the European and global tendency is towards renewable energy sources, the Polish economy is still based on coal. The collapse of the existing support system caused an extremely difficult situation, especially in the area of wind energy – many entrepreneurs faced the vision of bankruptcy, and the introduction of a new way of taxing wind installations caused additional financial burdens. Moreover, owing to the abolition of the obligation to buy back the generated electricity and the lack of a stable policy of the state with regard to support for RES, there is a noticeable fear of investing in new technologies.
The Law Firm’s Clients are entrepreneurs from the wind energy sector. We helped them to establish the Polish Chamber of Small Renewable Energy (PIMEO), which currently associates more than two hundred entities. The Law Firm, as a member of the Chamber, actively participates in its work, in particular in contacts with government administration. On behalf of our Clients, we have also prepared complaints to the European Commission, which are currently being examined.
